Clients can read PDF properties even when the page looks fine
An invoice that shows only your business name on the page can still carry Author: your personal laptop account, or Producer: the exact Word or QuickBooks build you used. That is embarrassing at best and a fingerprint at worst. Sanitizing an invoice PDF is about those fields, not about changing line items.
Price changes and leftover objects
If you edited totals and saved in a way that appended to the PDF, old figures can sit in unused objects. We rebuild the document so those leftovers are not an easy recovery. Always open the download and check the amounts yourself before you send it.
What stays on the page
Your company name, bank details, and invoice number in the visible layout are not metadata. If you need those redacted, edit the source document. We can flag emails and phone numbers in text we can read; we do not invent a different invoice.

If the invoice is still .docx or .xlsx, export PDF first. Then drop that file. Max 25 MB on this page.

Confirm Author, Creator, and Producer. Hidden prior edits are listed when we can detect them.

Questions
How do I remove the author name from an invoice PDF?
Export to PDF, drop it on ScrubFiles, confirm Author/Creator in the report, and download the rewritten file. Word and Excel files are not accepted as-is.
Will this change how the invoice prints?
For ordinary text invoices, layout should stay the same. Keep the original if the PDF is a signed form or an unusual template.
Is this only for invoices?
