ScrubFiles is built so you can remove EXIF, GPS, PDF properties, and similar metadata without handing us the file.

Homepage sanitizer

When you drop a file on the home page, inspection and rewriting run in your browser. We do not receive that file, and we do not store it. If you leave, the work stays on your device unless you downloaded a copy.

Accounts

If you create an account we store your email, a hashed password, marketing preference, and plan so you can sign in. We do not need your documents to do that.

API (when you use a key)

Sanitize API requests send a file to our server for that request only so we can return a cleaned copy. We do not keep the upload as a product feature. Usage counters (files per day/month per key) are stored so rate limits work.

Cookies

A session cookie is set when you log in so the dashboard stays signed in. The homepage tool does not require it.
