Google Photos share vs the file on disk
When you share from Google Photos you can often omit location. Email, USB, “Save to Files,” and many chat apps send the original JPEG. That original can still have GPS. ScrubFiles rewrites those bytes in Chrome or Firefox on the phone. No APK.
Camera location vs old photos
Settings → Location → Camera (or the Camera app’s location toggle) only stops new shots. Everything already in DCIM can still be geotagged. Strip the file you are about to send; do not assume last year’s concert photo is clean.
HEIC on Android
Some phones save HEIC. This tool does not accept HEIC yet. Export or convert to JPEG on the device, then drop that JPEG. We do not upload to convert it.
How to remove GPS from an Android photo

Pick the actual file
Use the JPEG or WEBP you will send — Downloads, Files, or an export from Google Photos. PNG screenshots usually have no GPS.

Confirm the coordinates
If GPS is in the file, ScrubFiles lists it. Sharing from Google Photos with location off is not the same as stripping the original bytes.

Send the download
Attach the rewritten file. The copy in Google Photos is unchanged unless you replace it.

How do I remove GPS from a photo on Android without an app?
Open this page in Chrome, choose the JPEG or WEBP, confirm GPS in the report, and download the rewritten file. The file is not uploaded.
Does WhatsApp already strip location?
Often WhatsApp recompresses and drops some tags. It is not a guarantee for every chat and every original. If you email the same JPEG, GPS can still be there. Strip before you attach if it matters.
Is this the same as turning off Location for Camera?
No. That only affects new captures. ScrubFiles is for the files you already have.
