Why the Word Properties dialog is not enough
File → Info → Authors in Word, or the PDF properties panel, can still leave XMP and leftover objects. A client who opens Document Properties in Acrobat or Preview may still see you. Rewriting the PDF is the reliable step after export.
Author vs the name on page 1
Author is a hidden field. Your name in the resume heading is visible text. ScrubFiles removes the field; it does not invent a redacted CV. If the leak is on the page, edit the document, export again, then strip metadata.

How to remove the author name from a PDF

Export PDF if you still have Word
This tool does not accept .docx. Save or export PDF, then drop that file. Clearing Authors in Word before export helps, but the PDF can still carry Creator.

Confirm Author and Creator
If your laptop name is in Author, you will see it. Creator is often “Microsoft Word” or similar — that also identifies how the file was made.

Send the rewrite
Attach the downloaded PDF. Visible names on the page (signature blocks, letterhead) stay unless you edit the source document.

How do I remove my name from PDF author without Adobe?
Export to PDF if needed, drop it on ScrubFiles, confirm Author in the report, and download the rewritten file. The file is not uploaded. Acrobat is not required.
I cleared Authors in Word and it is still there
Change both the Word document and re-export the PDF, then strip the PDF. Old exports keep the old Info dictionary. ScrubFiles rewrites that PDF in the browser.
Will this remove Microsoft Word as Creator too?
Yes, document properties including Creator and Producer are part of the rewrite, not only Author.
